Christophe Delpuech has been part of the All Cool adventure since the very beginning, in 2011. As Sales & Purchasing Manager, he negotiates with manufacturers and decides, product by product, what does or does not deserve a place in our selection of air conditioners and air quality devices. His favorite line, dropped at every supplier meeting, sums up his buying philosophy rather well: we don't want your best-seller, we want your best product. A flattering spec sheet is never enough to convince him: every model a supplier proposes has to prove itself in the field first, before earning its place in the catalogue.
His testing method is far more than a simple read of the spec sheet. On both portable and fixed air conditioners, he measures the actual noise level in operation, often well above the decibels announced at the factory, times how long it really takes to bring a room's temperature down, and compares the electricity consumption measured on the meter with the figure shown on the energy label. On air purifiers, he focuses on the real drop in fine particles and volatile organic compounds, the actual cost of replacing filters, and how quiet the unit stays on its night setting. A device that is noisy, power-hungry, or vague about its claims simply does not make the selection.
Christophe holds an equally demanding role on best-batteries.com, All Cool's sister site dedicated to portable power. There, he is in charge of purchasing and sales, and tests chargers and portable power stations with the same uncompromising rigor.
Married and a father of two, Christophe is a passionate hiker, especially attached to the Gorges du Tarn. It is there, during long family outings, that he sometimes tests in real conditions the runtime of a portable air conditioner while camping, or the effectiveness of an air purifier, far from any laboratory.
