V - Related questions
It depends on the model and its volume, but most quality insulated bottles and containers claim 12 to 24 hours for cold, and 6 to 12 hours for hot, thanks to their vacuum-sealed stainless steel double wall. A container filled to the top and left unopened always holds its temperature better than one opened regularly.
This is generally not recommended for most classic screw-cap models: the pressure from carbon dioxide can make the container overflow or leak slightly when opened. Some manufacturers offer specific lids designed for carbonated drinks; always check the manufacturer's guidance before use.
Hand-washing with warm soapy water is enough for everyday use; most manufacturers advise against the dishwasher, whose heat and harsh detergents can damage the lid seal or dull the brushed exterior finish. For a stubborn smell or residue at the bottom, a mix of warm water and baking soda (or white vinegar) left overnight, followed by a bottle brush, clears up most cases.
With one or more ice packs and few openings, expect 3 to 4 hours for frozen groceries on the way home, and up to 6 to 8 hours for a well-packed bag kept closed throughout. Without an ice pack, the bag's insulation alone slows warming without stopping it, so it's best to limit the trip to 1 to 2 hours for perishable items.
