The mini battery fan covers a wide family of devices: clip-on fans that attach to a desk, a stroller or a tent, mini desk fans that sit flat on a surface, or handheld models for outdoor use on the go. What they share is the absence of a cord: an internal battery, typically 2000 to 10000mAh depending on the model, powers the motor for anywhere from a few hours to several dozen, charging via USB or USB-C compatible with most common chargers, power banks and computer USB ports.

The first thing to compare is the claimed runtime, which varies enormously from one model to another: 3 to 4 hours for the smallest pocket-sized units, up to 20 hours or more for models with a larger battery, usually on the lowest speed. That runtime drops noticeably on higher speeds, sometimes by half or more, worth keeping in mind if the intended use is closer to all-day desk duty than occasional outdoor use.

The second criterion is the mounting style, which largely determines the use case. A clip-on model with a wide enough opening fits a desk edge, a stroller, a treadmill or a tent pole. The JISULIFE 3-in-1 quickly earned a spot in our travel bag this summer. The power bank function proved the most useful day to day: a phone at 8% at the end of a festival day, and a few minutes of charging was enough to make it home. The fan itself does the job without dazzling: fine on low speed, more noticeable on high, though we'd have liked more than two speed settings when other models offer dozens. The built-in flashlight came in handy more than once while camping. On size, the unit tucks into a pocket easily at 124 g, and the three configurations (pocket, handheld, desk) are well thought out. The downside: airflow stays modest compared with a dedicated turbo model, and real-world battery life on the highest setting falls well short of the claimed 19 hours. A solid all-rounder for anyone happy with that trade-off.

The LED display, unobtrusive, makes it easy to keep an eye on the battery without surprises. Noise stays discreet, you can barely hear it on the low setting, a real plus in an open-plan office. The claimed 16h battery life on low speed felt accurate in real use, easily enough for a full day without recharging. The weak point: airflow on maximum speed stays modest compared with a turbo model, and the plastic housing clearly shows its budget price point. For a light, cheap top-up fan, it's hard to do better.
