In detail: MATEIN Laptop Backpack with Insulated Lunch Compartment and USB Port
The MATEIN 15.6-inch backpack solves a different problem than a beach or camping insulated bag: combining daily laptop transport with a packed lunch in a single bag, for office, commuting or university use. Rather than carrying two separate bags, it offers a large main compartment with a padded laptop sleeve up to 15.6 inches, alongside a fully separate insulated compartment.
This lunch compartment, at 27.9 x 19.1 x 13.9 cm, holds up to 10 cans or the equivalent in meal containers. Its wipeable aluminium lining, padded with insulating foam, holds cold or hot for around 2 to 4 hours, enough to cover a work morning through to lunch without needing a separate insulated bag.
Rounding out this dual function, the backpack adds two front pockets for daily items, two side pockets for a bottle or an umbrella, and a distinctive detail: a built-in external USB charging port linked to an internal cable. Placing a power bank inside the bag lets you charge a phone on the move without pulling the cable out each time.
The water-resistant polyester exterior handles light weather, though it does not claim full waterproofing in heavy, sustained rain. This hybrid format mainly targets everyday office, commuting or university use, rather than a beach or camping trip, for which a dedicated, larger-volume insulated bag remains the better fit.

Our tester's verdict: Yoni Marchal-Laporte
Used daily for the commute with a 14-inch laptop and the day's lunch, this MATEIN backpack held up as a genuine two-in-one bag without an obvious compromise on either use. The laptop compartment, well padded and kept separate from the rest, protects properly against the usual bumps of the metro or a bike ride. The insulated compartment, with its aluminium lining, does keep a meal cold for 2 to 3 hours in real-world use, enough to cover a work morning. The external USB port proved more useful than expected: plugging a power bank inside the bag and charging a phone without pulling the cable out genuinely simplifies day-to-day commuting. One gripe worth knowing: the insulated compartment stays modest in volume, plenty for a lunch box and a can, but not for a family meal or several containers. For an office or university routine where you want a single bag for everything, this hybrid format remains convincing.
