In detail: Mitsubishi Electric Kirigamine Style MSZ-LN25VGV-E1 + MUZ-LN25VG, reversible split air conditioner 9000 BTU

The Mitsubishi Electric Kirigamine Style MSZ-LN25VGV sits at the top of the manufacturer's design range: a reversible fixed split air conditioner rated at 2.50 kW cooling (9000 BTU/h) and 3.20 kW heating, built for a bedroom or home office of around 20 to 25 m², with a flat pearl white panel that stands apart from the more technical-looking casings elsewhere in the catalogue.

The real selling point of this range is noise: from 19 dB(A) in quiet mode indoors, comparable to rustling leaves, with a night mode that shaves off a further 3 dB(A). Rated Class A+++ in both cooling and heating, with a SEER of 10.50 and a SCOP of 5.20, the unit delivers some of the best seasonal efficiency figures on the market at this output. R32 refrigerant (GWP 675), less harmful to the environment than R410A, runs the circuit.

On features, the 3D i-See sensor scans the room by infrared to detect occupants' presence and position, automatically adjusting airflow direction (direct or indirect) to avoid cold spots or draughts blowing straight at people. The Plasma Quad Plus filtration system rounds things out: an electrical discharge neutralises dust, allergens and a good share of airborne bacteria and viruses. The dual deflector, with independently controlled vanes, directs airflow in several directions at once.

WiFi comes built in as standard, rather than optional as on the brand's more affordable ranges, controlled through the MELCloud app and compatible with major voice assistants. The supplied infrared remote remains the quickest way to adjust settings day to day.

Sold as a ready-to-fit kit with the MUZ-LN25VG outdoor unit, a pre-charged refrigerant line (3 metres as standard, up to 17 metres combined as an option) and a choice of bracket kit (wall or ground), the unit simplifies site prep for the installer. The guaranteed operating range runs from -10°C to 46°C (14°F to 115°F) in cooling, and down to -15°C (5°F) outdoors for heating. Like any split air conditioner, commissioning (vacuum pumping, connecting the R32 refrigerant) must always be carried out by a certified professional qualified to handle refrigerant gases, a regulatory requirement across Europe.

At a price noticeably above Mitsubishi's entry-level ranges (MSZ-HR or MSZ-AY), the Kirigamine Style is aimed at buyers chasing design and quiet operation first, without giving up on energy performance. Backed by a 3-year parts warranty and 5 years on the compressor, it's a sound pick for a bedroom or living room where the unit's noise genuinely needs to fade into the background.

Comparison

In the premium design split segment, the Mitsubishi Kirigamine Style MSZ-LN25VGV regularly comes up against the Daikin Emura 3 FTXJ25AS, another stylish 9000 BTU model, in searches like "Mitsubishi Kirigamine vs Daikin Emura". Here is how the two compare, based on the public specifications of both manufacturers.

Comparison: Mitsubishi Kirigamine Style MSZ-LN25VGV vs Daikin Emura 3 FTXJ25AS (manufacturer data, for guidance only)

In short, the Daikin Emura 3 offers a slightly lower price for an identical noise floor, a genuine advantage. The Mitsubishi Kirigamine Style answers with a better SEER, a higher heating output and its 3D i-See presence sensor, a feature the Daikin doesn't offer on this range, a real plus for everyday comfort.

Our tester's verdict: Christophe Delpuech

See our tester's profile

Fitted recently in a homeowner's bedroom where discretion mattered as much visually as acoustically. The Kirigamine Style's flat panel and pearl white finish practically disappear once mounted above the bed, a world away from the bulkier casings you usually see on this kind of job. On the install side, the 3 m factory pre-charge was plenty for this run to the outdoor wall, no extra vacuum pumping needed. Once running, the room dropped from 27 to 21°C (81 to 70°F) in about twenty minutes, with a measured noise level around 20 to 22 dB(A) on low fan speed, practically silent at night with quiet mode switched on. The 3D i-See sensor clearly does its job: airflow consistently avoids blowing straight onto the bed once it detects where you are. My one gripe is the price, noticeably above Mitsubishi's more basic ranges for what is, on paper, a fairly standard 9000 BTU output. But for a bedroom or office where quiet matters above everything else, this remains one of the best picks on the market.

Frequently asked questions: Mitsubishi Electric Kirigamine Style MSZ-LN25VGV-E1 + MUZ-LN25VG, reversible split air conditioner 9000 BTU

Yes, that's the main selling point of this design range: the indoor unit drops to 19 dB(A) in quiet mode, with a night mode that shaves off a further 3 dB(A), making it practically inaudible in a bedroom.

Yes, this is a reversible model: alongside cooling (2.50 kW, Class A+++), it works as a heat pump with 3.20 kW nominal heating output, Class A+++ and a SCOP of 5.20, for year-round use.

It's an infrared sensor that scans the room in real time to detect the presence and position of occupants, automatically adjusting airflow direction to avoid cold spots or draughts blowing directly at people.

The manufacturer recommends this 9000 BTU model for a room of about 20 to 25 m² (215 to 270 sq ft), suitable for a bedroom, home office or small living space.

The kit includes a factory pre-charged refrigerant line and a bracket kit, which simplifies site prep, but fitting and commissioning a split air conditioner must always be carried out by a certified professional qualified to handle R32 refrigerant gas.

The Kirigamine Style range comes in four finishes: pearl white (the MSZ-LN25VGV model featured here), natural white, onyx black and ruby red, to suit different interior styles.
