A calculator to estimate what an electric cool box or a fridge really consumes, and what that means on your bill.
The consumption quoted by manufacturers assumes ideal conditions: moderate ambient temperature, good airflow, the lid rarely opened. In real life (on a terrace, in a poorly ventilated garage or in full summer sun), actual consumption can be far higher.
This tool applies a physical model (temperature difference, airflow, sun exposure, number of openings per day, appliance capacity) to give a realistic consumption range over 24 hours, converted into an electricity cost per day and per month based on the price per kWh you enter.
The result is always given as a range (minimum to maximum), never as a single figure: two appliances of the same capacity can differ by more than 70 % in real-world consumption.
Model calibrated on consumption figures published by several manufacturers (manuals and EU energy labels), covering 10 to 104 litres. The airflow and sun-exposure penalties are estimates: no manufacturer publishes them. The price per kWh is editable and is only a default value: adjust it to match your own electricity contract.
