Olimpia Splendid

Olimpia Splendid is a historic Italian air conditioning brand, founded in 1956 in Cellatica, near Brescia, where its headquarters and main production site remain today. Originally focused on heating, the company moved into air conditioning in the 1980s, then became known in the early 2000s for its fixed air conditioners without an outdoor unit (the Maestro range), a technology it helped popularise. Made in Italy, the brand now offers a full range of air conditioning, heating and air treatment products, distributed in more than 45 countries through a network of sales subsidiaries in Europe, China, the United States and Australia.

Olimpia Splendid Peler 7T

Built by Italy's reference name in home climate control, the Peler 7T combines evaporative cooling with air purifying in a compact footprint.

  • Type : Evaporative air cooler and purifier, 7-litre tank
  • Airflow : Up to 300 m3/h, maximum air speed 7 m/s
  • Functions : Works with or without water, as a cooler or a plain fan
  • Dust filter and honeycomb panel: purifies the air on top of cooling it
The Olimpia Splendid Peler 7T is a 7-litre evaporative air cooler fitted with a dust filter and a honeycomb evaporative panel that also give it a purifying function. Controlled via touchscreen, with automatic horizontal oscillation and 3 speeds, it targets small to medium rooms, backed by the reliability of an Italian manufacturer active in climate control since 1956.
I tested it in a fairly small guest room, where the compact footprint (24 x 26 cm base, 57 cm tall) made all the difference compared with bulkier evaporative coolers. The touchscreen makes controls pleasant to use, no fiddly buttons, and the automatic horizontal oscillation spreads the air well around the room instead of blowing in a single direction. The dual filter, anti-dust plus honeycomb pad, gives a noticeably cleaner feel to the air in use, a real plus compared with a basic mist fan. The 7-litre tank, fillable from the top or the bottom depending on available space, proved handy day to day. The downside: in real heat or an already humid room, the cooling effect fades noticeably, a limit of evaporative technology in general rather than a flaw specific to this unit. An honest bit of extra freshness from an Italian brand that's been around since 1956.
